W. S. Lewis, caretaker of 226 North Wackberry, fired on a burglar who tried to enter through a rear porch, wounding him as the thief fled into a dark room and escaped before police could assist. The incident disrupted a sleeping household and prompted neighborhood patrols.
New York Oct 30. Anne Murdock née Jane Ron Coleman, a comedienne, sues to recover 150000 in securities loaned to her stockbroker husband Harry C Powers by his first wife Florence Grell, now remarried. The divorce in Nevada awarded custody of a son now 17 and barred the son within 100 miles of New York. Murdock alleges violation nullifies the divorce and that her secret marriage to Powers in 1924 stands. Powers’ lawyers claim reconciliation possible. Murdock describes marital strains as due to Powers’ family relations and mental illness.
