Light on connection to Brownsville via Rio Grande Valley rail line
A 1903 letter from N A Fiten of the San Antonio and Rio Grande Valley railroad outlines plans to connect Ebenezer to Chapin Hidalgo County and extend toward Brownsville. It details a branch from near Brownsville through San Benito to the Tagana Maiye area for intercoastal canal access, plus additional branches under consideration. The writer anticipates completion to Chapin by 1909 and linkups with Falfurruas and San Antonio, arguing the project will spur regional development and relieve local merchant pressures.
