Miner Rescued After Eight Days Imprisoned in Coal Mine
Thomas Toshesky, 38, from Continental colliery in Centralia Pennsylvania, survived eight days trapped in a 7 by 16 foot space after a pillar moved closing his path. Rescuers bored a tunnel and fed him through a two inch pipe with light, clothing, a carpet, and blankets as 100 miners worked eight hour shifts to reach him.
