No Captive Fliers Found In China
SICHANG China Oct 15. Delayed. U S army group returns from western China with no evidence that American fliers were enslaved by Lolo tribes. They recovered the bones of one crew member from a 1943 B 29 crash and found three other bodies earlier. Remaining six crew members are rumored captured but unverified. An American graves registration party, with AP photographer Julian Wilson, climbed Liang Pengshan in the Wutai range to inspect wreckage and bones. Lt Col Herbert Wurtzier and Capt Edward L McAllister led the expedition and said investigations continue. Five crashes in the area known, with weeks needed to confirm rumors and possible release negotiations.

Goering Death Row Visit Stirs Allied Correspondents
A group of eight Allied reporters toured the condemned block in Nuernberg on an overnight visit, prompting fears it might alert the prisoners to their fate. The tour, led by Col. Sethy Little, included stops at Goering’s cell where the German wartime leader slept as others awaited their executions. The correspondent notes discuss guards’ reactions and the plan to read the sentences after the tour, amid concerns about timing and security.
