Jury Frees Man Over Death Threat Plea by Officer
A federal jury ruled that Teon Marechal’s guilty plea on liquor violations was coerced by fear of death from Capt. Charles Stevens, his agent. The defendant testified he was threatened if he did not plead before U S commissioner R F Sheppt. Both Siddall and Stevens have since died, Stevens shot from ambush and Siddall died of heart trouble.
