Senator Knox Dies in Washington After Stroke
Senator Philander C. Knox of Pennsylvania died suddenly from a paralytic stroke at his Washington home. Funeral services are planned in Washington and Valley Forge with President Harding and cabinet members to attend. Knox, 63, returned from Europe days earlier and had been active in Senate business including the peace treaty with Germany. The funeral will be at St. John's Episcopal Church with honorary pallbearers named among personal friends and officials. His death prompts adjournment across both houses as mourning continues.
