Police say Robert D Barr 28 a motion picture projectionist arrested on arson suspicion did not cause the blaze though he admitted starting a fire after hearing reports of the fire in the recreation center.

Bexar Jail Receives First Class Rating From Federal Inspector

28th Infantry Birthday Observed at Fort Bam Houston
The 28th Infantry marked its 72nd birthday with a delayed observance by the Twenty-third Infantry at Fort Bam Houston. A regimental dinner in each company mess was popular. A farewell dinner for Col A T Quenshine and welcome to Col James A Higgins was planned. The regiment, formed in 1812 and reorganized in 1881, has led Alaska service and naval voyages, with historic ties to Mania in 1898 and a circumnavigation via the Suez Canal.

Funds Ready for Forts Fort Bam Houston and Fort Bliss
Announcement that $80,009 in the public works allotment for Fort Bam Houston to be expended by the post quartermaster is now available. Of this total 450,000 will be used for repairs to army post buildings, 633,000 for replacement and repair of fences, and 5000 for drainage of the stable area. Additional funds include 247,078 for roins, water, sewer and fire protection work at Fort Bliss and 120,000 for similar purposes at Fort Huachuca, Arizona.
