Vienna Firm to Close Jews Camp Over Austrian Transit Station
At the United Nations, officials condemned Austria for moving to shut the Schoenbrunn transit camp near Vienna used for Soviet Jews emigrating to Israel. Chancellor Bruno Kreisky held firm despite appeals from Israeli leaders and U.N. officials that the closure be reconsidered or placed under U.N. control.
