Seguin Tex Oct 3 P L Herron aged 79 years is dead at his home after weeks of illness. A pioneer resident of this county and Civil War veteran he served with the Fourth Texas from Seguin and held two terms as justice of the peace of the Seguin precinct. His wife and several children survive. He served the Confederacy during the war.
Governor Ferguson left for Houston and will travel to inspect the state penitentiary system including convict farms. He plans a weeklong tour to gather information for recommendations to the next Legislature. A successor to Charles H. Hurdleston as state railroad manager will be announced after his return.
