GM division to rehire 1050 workers by cutting raises

Dayton Ohio UP T reports the General Motors Prighdaire Division reached an historic agreement with the Electrical Workers union to recall 1050 laid off workers by replacing previously promised pay raises with a wage-freeze. Company officials cite low sales and high labor costs, noting the recall follows a contract modification with the International Union of Electrical Workers that eliminates an $18 weekly raise and cost of living increases.
