School officials announced Thursday that more than 700000 dollars will be invested in expanding Alva schools. The board authorized architects to plan additions at Wheatley High School costing about 200000 dollars. An auditorium and PE addition at Dunbar Junior High is planned for 230000 dollars. Hillcrest Elementary will gain six classrooms and a cafeteria for 100000 dollars. Fenwick adds six rooms and a cafeteria around 75000 dollars, with Grant School about 85000 dollars.

Policy case to criminal court in December trial

A criminal district court jury will hear a policy indictment for the first time in years with trial set for December 1. D L Tipton indicted for keeping and exhibiting policy games along with Ly Neill E A Shifter and Richard A Schaller all of 2311 Broadway. Indictments allege the offense occurred October 4 as part of a policy gambling prosecution strategy.
