Cotton Damaged by Unseasonable Weather Across Belt
Washington DC Nev 18 Unseasonable weather in the central and western portions of the cotton belt and heavy rains in the eastern section hindered picking generally and in some instances killed jute cotton, according to the National Weather and Crop Bulletin issued Wednesday covering conditions for the work ending November 16. Late cotton suffered frost in eastern facilities while injury was done to the top in Texas by precipitation and freezing weather. Picking made satisfactory progress in the northeastern districts, the bulletin said, while the western portions suffered most for unfavorable weather. There remains some cotton to be picked in North Carolina, Arkansas and Northern Alabama.
