Bilingual Education Program Leads Southside School District
Miss Eva Rivera and Mrs. Carmen Cortez oversee a new bilingual education program at Southside School District. The project adapts texts for Spanish and English learners, aiming to serve 260 students in nine primary classes and plans to add third graders. It uses the mother tongue as the instructional base while building English skills. The program, funded by the U.S. Office of Education, seeks culturally relevant resources and training for teachers and health personnel to support language development.
