County Auditor Edgar G. Garvey reported shortages totaling 9500 dollars in the county treasurer's office. He disclosed 8500 from October and a further 1000 found later. The commissioners, Garvey, and investigator Gus Brown then opened the Joe Sobleski bank box and ordered a full audit of the treasurer's records during Sobleski's incumbency. Thomas G. Leighton, who defeated Sobleski, was sworn in to fill the unexpired term.

Col. E. E. Haskell chief of staff of the Ninety-fifth division Army re pervetors died at his home last night of pneumonia. A West Point graduate and World War veteran he took the reserve post here in 1928 coming from Atlanta.
Beverly Hills officers seized Lita Grey Chaplin's home and two Beverly Hills bank accounts today as part of a civil suit filed by her manager Nicholas Gyory. Gyory seeks to collect $203.12.
In Stockholm on November 11 1932 the Nobel Prize in Literature was awarded to British novelist John Galsworthy. The announcement confirmed him as the laureate for this year, marking a milestone in his literary career.
