Kinney Shoe Store at 8510 San Pedro reported a holdup. the clerk John Diggs described a man in his 20s wearing a coat who fled on foot after demanding money. Police also arrested two boys, ages 14 and 15, for a strongarm robbery of a 14 year old in the 1900 block of El Paso.
Washington reports that a $3.166 million jet engine fuel system overhaul and test facility for Kelly Air Force Base was added to the Military Procurement Authorization bill by the House Senate conference committee. Rep Fisher and Rep Gonzalez pushed the inclusion, with final action expected before the November 15 Thanksgiving recess. The bill also covers about $260 million in new construction for Kelly Lackland and Randolph.
The Lichi's Washington Bureau says the Regional Community Relations Service opens offices in Boston and Seattle to aid localities facing race and ethnic discrimination. The new sites raise CRS regional offices to ten with mediators and conciliators to resolve conflicts before court action. Lawrence J. Turner named Boston regional director and Robert Lambdy named Seattle director. John G. Perez promoted to regional director in Kansas City.
Gov Dolph Briscoe appointed three new members to the Texas State Board of Landscape Architects. George R. Hall Sr. and John A. Seldsmann, both of Dallas, and William C. Kleine Jr. of San Antonio were named to the board.
