New Poison Gas Claims Outperforms Yperite
In Clermont Ferrand France on November 2 authorities report a new poison gas discovered by Professor Eleonce Bert and M. De Tier. They claim it is easily produced in eight days from existing plants and that no protection exists. The gas is colorless with a celery scent and blisters skin while attacking the entire body. Their description notes it differs from yperite in that it acts on dry skin and that clothing cannot fully seal against it.
