Communist rocket attack in Da Nang kills civilians
Da Nang suffered a deadly rocket assault as Communist forces stepped up operations across South Vietnam. Twelve civilians died and others wounded as South Vietnamese troops pressed into a 450 square mile Doxa base area in the Central Highlands. U.S. and Vietnamese officials reported heavy fighting, air strikes, and multiple helicopter and ground engagements around Da Nang and the Doxa zone.
