He fled town in an automobile after a warning to leave the city and sought refuge in a doctor’s office as reporters kept silent to protect the principals.
Bert Lytell, film actor, pleaded guilty to income tax evasion for 1925 in Los Angeles. Revenue agents testified his 1925 income was 66000 with deductions of 16000, leaving a tax due of 4005.24.
A Democratic point of order against the flexible tariff bill was raised in Washington. Senator Smoot offered a lengthy defense of the measure as the Senate debated the tariff proposal.
