After a long San Antonio Turn Verein session the proposal to spend 20,000 for Turner hall improvements was rejected. President Tred Hummert adjourned after a heated discussion and no officer nominations were made. A special meeting is set for next Monday night.

The retiring city council met yesterday afternoon with harmony as the keynote. Alderman Boynton passed a $3500 ordinance for a South Heights fire station by unanimous vote, while Lambert hinted at future stations on West End and South Flores hill. The May payroll of $56,847.07 and merchants’ bills of $19,974.71 were approved without dissent.
General Tasker H Bliss and Lt Matt C Bristol visit Fort Clark to inspect facilities and discuss government disposition. A conference will be held with Col Frederick W Sibley of the Fourteenth Cavalry on border measures.
