A patent medicine advertisement touts a “three-grain cadomene” tablet worthily restoring health to men and women plagued by nervous exhaustion and related symptoms. It promises dramatic stamina gains without opiates or habit forming drugs, with tubes dispensed by physicians and druggists and full self administration directions.
A Chamber of Commerce committee asked for cooperation from city government and organizations to fix bad housing and sanitation in the West Side corrals. They urged stricter food standards and the establishment of pure milk depots while emphasizing that further publicity may hinder progress and urging officials to take action to reduce high mortality among Mexican children.
Tydee June Cox, land and tax commissioner for Sunset Central East and West railway lines of Texas, urged the county board of equalization to lower the railroad real property valuation. He argued the $33,000 per mile rendition, including rolling stock and tanks, is excessive versus Bexar County figures and questioned the higher 49,000 per mile cited for local data. No decision was made as the board adjourned.

A late 1916 report describes a violent incident on Water Street where a white man was slashed by a black assailant in a saloon confrontation.
