Academy Exam Ruse Sparks Tightening at Air Force Academy
COLORADO SPRINGS AP The Air Force Academy tightens exam security after a cheating scandal that prompted the resignation of 10 cadets this year. The cadet wing of about 2,560 is under no special surveillance, but officials say some cheating could still occur. Ringleaders found ways to obtain advance copies of tests, which were stored in safes and desks. A five-member investigative panel urged retention of the honor code but suggested changes, with a new commandant to be installed July 1. Officials noted thousands of applicants for a thousand spots in the incoming class, highlighting ongoing scrutiny of academy discipline and admissions.
