George V. Rotan, winner of the 1912 title, defeated Louis Jacoby 11 up and 10 to play to claim the state golf championship in Houston. Rotan dormie at the 25th hole after a tight match, with Jacoby from Dallas pressing hard before the finish.
Fred Connerly of Austin defeated Alfred Smith of Austin six up with five to play to win the Houston cup. C L Dexter Jr of Dallas beat G M Cochran of Dallas six up five to play for the Texas cup. Ed Tarrant Jr of San Antonio defeated Frank Ireland of Houston for a consolation cup. Dallas led in cups and medals. Houston earned two medals and one cup. The next tournament will be in San Antonio.
