Maurice Boutet de Monvel Painted Joan of Arc in Devotion
Examination of the late Maurice Boutet de Monvel’s papers shows he loved Joan of Arc passionately. His six Joan works, including The Apparition and The Coronation of Charles VII, were acquired by Senator W A Clark for his New York mansion. The paintings, with two new ones completed before his death, will decorate Clark’s house and the Basilica of Domremy.
