Army Heard in Officer Sanity Trial at Camp Angier
The government challenged Lieut. Beaufort G. Swanccutt's insanity claim as four people died during a dance night at Camp Angi Chivers. The court martial neared conclusion with Capt. Charles A. Thomas summoning three senior officers to rebut neurologists and psychiatrists' testimony. Swanccutt faced questions about events before during and after the gunfire that killed Dorothy Douglas and Laureine Livermore and wounded Capt. Aubrey G. Serfling, a superior officer who died shortly after, as well as police officer Arthur B. Simpson killed later in Arlington.
