A drugstore advertisement urges men and women to try Cystex for up to 48 hours to relieve fatigue backache and night awakenings. It promises money back if no improvement showing a quick return to energy sleep and peace of mind after using the product.
An old advertisement touts Dr. Tults Liver Pills as a legendary cure for liver poison and blood poisoning. It claims the product has been famous for eighty years, available at drug stores in a box.
Capt Louis Beze and a police squad calmed a planned fistfight among San Antonio youths at Monte Vista station on the I.G.N. railway after a downtown hotel dance ended. County officer Braun was disarmed as crowds followed the combatants before Beze delivered a fatherly talk and persuaded them to disperse.
Shelby County Texas March 21. Buddy Evine a Negro was lynched by a mob at about 7 30 this morning taking him from two officers. He was hanged from the same oak limb in the courthouse yard where another Negro was lynched five years ago for attacking a white woman. Evins had been charged with murder in a fatal assault on John Wheeler at Canton March 12.
May 21. An earthquake struck Tokio at 1 30 this morning driving residents from homes in panic. No injuries were reported in the brief alert as tremors rocked the city and nearby areas.
Washington May 2 army orders list numerous officer moves. Litut. Col. D. A. Nulan relieved from duties. various captains, lieutenants, and engineers reassigned or promoted. Notes include transfers to universities, forts, and training posts. special orders revoked or amended. many shows of duty at Fort Myer, Fort Humphreys, Fort Benning, and Edgewood Arsenal. A focus on detachments, retirement actions, and education assignments.
A San Antonio lad combines business with pleasure by offering a loop not requiring gasoline in a kyecroper elevator ride. Patrons hesitated to exit the cage before entering, but the passenger refused to disembark, riding up and down as the elevator pilot joined in for a playful joy ride.
At a fashionable Waco residence late at night a masked bandit forced Mrs. W E Gaylord to surrender diamonds valued at 400 dollars with a revolver. Mrs. Carmen Garcia of 327 West Summit Avenue recalled a frightening encounter when two armed youths blocked her exit from a car in the 600 block of North Flores Street Sunday night. After failing to find money, the younger boy, about 14, proposed killing her before fleeing.
