Bishop Shaw Praised at Farewell Events in San Antonio

Bishop Shaw plans a departure from San Antonio for New Orleans with no official farewell set. A final series of gatherings included a dinner at the Gunter Hotel hosted by Catholic and Protestant leaders, with tributes from Gen. Johnston Col. Diehl and Mayor Bell. Speakers lauded his Christian character, service to soldiers, and impact on the community, while Shaw praised the San Antonio Light as a great newspaper and thanked attendees. The farewell will occur Tuesday evening at the Sullivan home, 404 Avenue C, as friends gather to bid him farewell.
