Panama Canal fish survey ends with repatriation of field team
Washington dispatch reports completion of fish collecting in the Panama Canal Zone. The project, supported by the U S Bureau of Fisheries and Field Museum, gathered sharks tarpon jewfish snappers groupers and catfishes from canal waters and adjacent Darien areas. The team anticipates changes in the fish fauna as the canal and Gatun Lake alter salinity and connections between oceans.
