Lila Cockrell cracks down on council with new rules
Mayor Lila Cockrell issued a series of memoranda ordering stricter rules for the City Council, including a fixed 8 a.m. start time, no Thursday proclamations, in-room lunches, and limits on citizen appearances. She urged council members to follow the City Charter and for staff to implement policy, warning of a decisive vote next week on a lobbyist and a long term Edwards Aquifer study. Local reaction split, with some council members supporting the shift toward orderly proceedings.
