The Luling Kiwanis finance committee led by Max Fanti launches a fund drive aiming to raise 5000 dollars for a community play park. Plans include installing artificial lighting to resume softball under lights.
Washington diplomats released a reconstruction of the Molotov Smith exchange. Bedell Smith wrote his summary from notes after meeting Molotov on May 4 and sent it to Moscow. Molotov replied, endorsing the start of talks on U S Soviet issues, with his remarks delivered orally and a copy given to Smith.
