Why Do Men Refuse Women the Ballot Says Dorothy Dix

Dorothy Dix quotes a essay from a sixth suffragist arguing men deny women the vote not to tyrannize but from mistaken beliefs about women's intelligence. She notes women lead churches and charities while men seek female support in public life yet oppose voting. She cites mothers wives and sisters as intelligent and capable, challenging the idea women are unfit for politics and condemning labeling women as on par with criminals or the insane.

Brackenridge Grammer School Lawn Fete Delights Community

The Brackenridge Grammer School held a Tuesday lawn fete directed by principal F M Halbedh featuring Coatzie's famous minstrels led by Fred Perez. The program included Gilbert Lang, Grace Yarborough, Bayard Corley and a large student chorus with numerous soloists. Diana Dalkowitz was queen of the gypsy camp with a long list of attendant courtiers and retainers. Teachers Georgie Underwood and others assisted, while booths were run by a steady cadre of students.
