Stalin to Give Poland Free Hand Says Priest
A Springfield priest, Stanislaus Orlemanski, said Stalin intends no interference in Poland’s internal affairs and envisions a strong independent Poland that can defend its frontiers. He claimed an allied Poland and Russia could form a great eastern force and bring long lasting peace. He also hinted at improved Vatican relations and discussed the trip with Stalin and Molotov, while Hull disclosed the trip was government funded, drawing criticism from Polish-Americans.
