City Clerk Fred Fries of San Antonio issues a public notice per a resolution. The notice details the matters and actions laid out in the resolution concerning Lavaca Street between Water Street and Labor Street.
City of San Antonio proposes Lavaca Street up to Labor Street improvement with three inch asphalt wearing surface and curb work. Ordinance calls for special assessments on abutting property and a May 18, 1916 hearing in City Hall to consider the plan and the City Engineer's statement of costs and owners to be notified.
National ads promote fifteen camps across the United States including one at San Antonio. Fort Sam Houston will host a June opening as part of the Military Training Camps association campaign. The ads urge business men to give their vacation to country duty and highlight camp life features. Leaders urge Southern businessmen to contact the Fort Sam Houston officer in charge.
The Republican Club led by F. E. Scobey and Harry W. Hamilton will skip the county primaries called by County Chairman Elgin. Instead, it will hold a county mass convention May 9 at Turner Hall to name delegates to the state convention. Representation is one delegate per 25 voters or majority fraction for the governor candidate in the last election.
Austin May 5 Colonel J C Jones Texas state pension commissioner says the Texas Confederate veterans pension rolls have reached their maximum with about 19000 pensioners. He notes 1224 widows and 933 soldiers added on the indigent roll, 125 widow and 241 soldiers rejected.
Advertises a weight loss method using oil of kerin capsules from Sommers' Drug Store. Recommends taking one capsule after each meal and at night, plus regular weigh‑ins every two weeks. Claims it is harmless, pleasant, and quickly improves energy and movement.
The ad touts Zemo for eczema and skin troubles and claims it removes eczema quickly and soothes sores burns and wounds. It advises against greasy salves and promotes buying from druggists in two sizes with prices for standard and extra large. Cleveland is named as the source location.
The Texas Department of Agriculture issued new bulletins Nos. 21 on canning and preserving and 23 on control of destructive animals. Old series Nos. 1 dairy industry in Texas third edition and 24 Texas beekeeping second edition are included along with Nos. 46 47 48 from the State Farmers Institute and home projects for agriculture and home economics. Free upon application at the department. Primaries held tomorrow night in Nueces County at 7 o clock for Republican and Democratic presidential precinct conventions in Corpus Christi Texas.
