US Bus Operators Face Tax Ruling Expansion
Berar county service and motor bus operators may pay thousands in new taxes after a Texas Supreme Court ruling. The Public Service company previously paid taxes for 1927 and 1928, now extended to two years for all operators, with injunctions to be dissolved after final court actions. County Attorney Tom J. Newton pressed motions to dissolve the injunctions, while state highway officials assist in collecting the new levy.

New York Turtle Farm Aims to Save Galapagos Turtles
In the Bronx a turtle farm rears 103 young tortoises rescued from the Galapagos Islands. The plan expects 100 to reach island homes again, after growing tough enough to survive dogs and pigs once released. The animals, valued for meat, nearly vanished from the Galapagos due to predators. About 700 more were collected from South Pacific sources by a New York Zoological Society expedition. Turtles range from six inches to three feet across.
