A party of five state officials and chamber leaders leaves San Antonio by auto for a goodwill and inspection trip over the Pan American highway from Laredo to Mexico City. Mayor Quin delivers official greeting as the group heads south with plans to meet Mexican officials including the ambassador Daniels in Mexico City and return by rail.
Barbara Clegg, formerly a leading lady in New York stage productions, relocates with her mining engineer husband Norman A. Schneider to the rugged mining country near Twain Twenty-Nine Fin es California. The move marks a shift from Broadway glamour to a strenuous frontier setting as the couple adjusts to life in the mountainous region.
About 100 public officials gathered at the Municipal auditorium to wish the party well as an automobile delegation left Tuesday morning for Mexico City via the Pan American highway. The group includes W. H. Furlong highway secretary D. K. Martin state highway commissioner R. W. Briggs contractor T. H. Webb assistant state highway engineer Ray Lee managing editor of the Austin American and Dick O Terrell president of the San Antonio chamber of commerce carrying goodwill messages to Mexican officials.

The railroad commission countered that major oil firms seek to control Texas oil and argued the proposed cap of 400,000 barrels daily would violate public necessity.

Kilgore May 2 Independent news service reports that East Texas oil men plan to take their problems to President Roosevelt. They charged major companies dominate the oil industry and voice support for independent wells. Despite 984 wells being closed, daily production still rises.
About 800 Communists were imprisoned today in Sofia Bulgaria as arrests continued the round up begun on the eve of the May day Extremist demonstrations.
Garden Michigan May 2 Tod a famed 36 year old rodeo horse is dead. He was shot after falling on the tee and breaking a leg near here. Named after Helen Tod one of Texas famous woman riders Tod was known for ranch and rodeo performances. He was a gadd saddle horse trained to throw unwary rider his last owner Mrs Catherine Hughes Fayette Michigan brought him here several years ago.
Army nurse Katherine Walsh, 41, stationed at Filesimmona Hospital, will rest in the Garrigantmna family plot in Cork Ireland, per her death bed wish. Born on a family estate in Ireland, she came to the United States in 1914 at the suggestion of her brother Con Walsh, famed hammer thrower.
