Lonergan Fails to Take Stand in Murder Trial

New York March 19 The defense of Wayne Lonergan charged with first degree murder in the death of his heiress wife Patricia rested after calling three witnesses. Interior decorator Mario Gabellini testified he escorted Mrs Lonergan on a nightclub round the night before her death. Dr Isidore Michel corroborated Lonergans confession about seeking poison pills for a friend.

Assault Case to Grand Jury against Pedro Sanchez

A complaint against Pedro Sanchez, 27, charging aggravated assault on his 15 year old wife Elizabeth Garcia Sanchez, whom he wed three months ago, will be presented to the grand jury. He allegedly slashed her face with a knife January 29, leaving a scar from mouth to ear and permanent disfigurement. The district attorney will seek indictments for disfiguring or mayhem. The Witte Museum received two seedling Sequoias gifted by Maj. Fletcher Gardner to be planted along the San Antonio river.
