Manges Denied HBG Aid in Bank Board Grab Bid
Washington: Clinton Manges, San Antonio Groos National Bank's largest stockholder, failed to win help from Rep. Gonzales and Congress to gain control of the bank board. Manges, backed by lawyer Tom Stolhandske, sought to overturn a March 4 1971 OCC order that barred his participation, arguing over $6.9 million in stock. Gonzales replied he would not influence OCC actions, stressing he takes no sides and that bank ownership or control should not be the aim while the bank is sound.
