The Texas Supreme Court upheld lower rulings ordering Commercial Standard Insurance Co to pay workmen's compensation benefits to Raul Marin Jr., widower of Santa Marin, who was killed at a San Antonio service station in September 1969. Esteban Mendoza later pleaded guilty to murder. The case ruled the death occurred in the course of employment due to the risks of pre dawn station duties, despite insurer arguments that the attack was personal and not employment related.
