Solons Inspect San Antonio Sites for State Office Building
Nine state representatives on the appropriations committee toured three San Antonio sites for a new state office building. The USAA Building on Broadway totals 292000 usable square feet with a 750 seat auditorium and 12 acres, costing 9.5 million after 1961 expansion, and available June 1975. The SAMSCO site covers about 6.5 acres with a five story brick warehouse built in 1952, priced at 700 plus remodeling, with 174000 square feet of parking and 50,000 square feet in two main buildings. The Arciniega site near Alamo is six acres, purchasable for 246000, with construction costs estimated at 8 to 10 million.
