Housing Is Unique At Texas U Fraternity Flat
The Sigma Chi fraternity at the University of Texas completed a 10 room garage apartment building in Austin in September 1918 at a cost of 1 918,000. The structure forms a college community with a second building planned to surround a central patio. The design features private entrances, connected baths, panelled walls, and upper level access for privacy. The lower level houses student seats and the plan has attracted many requests from other fraternities. Construction could spread to other campuses due to its successful eight month operation.
