Telephone trade shows rapid recovery across Texas
Burton, president of the Texas Telephone Association, says independents serve 200 000 subscribers while Bell exchanges serve 550 000 in Texas. He notes the industry recovery since 1933 remains stronger than the broader prosperity period and stresses interconnection among 1100 exchanges with 300 owned by independents. The three day convention at the Plaza hotel includes Mayor Maverick and Chief Ashworth, with speakers on social security and the industry’s decade.
