New Farm Loan Program Looms
Wy-A new program of farm mortgage relief is being prepared by farm organization leaders. It would be held in abeyance until the Roosevelt agricultural relief program is acted on by Congress. Dr. W. I. Myers of Cornell, on leave, is delegated to work with leaders on consolidating government farm credit agencies. The plan includes centralization of several lending agencies with a separate division for mortgage relief. Leaders seek lower interest rates and more funds for refinancing existing mortgages, while differences over guarantees and joint land banks remain to be ironed out in the coming month.
