Bexar County to Start Polio Shots for 53,000 Children

Bexar County plans a new polio vaccination program for 53,000 first through fourth grade children starting the week of April 4 if the national Salk vaccine testing report is favorable. Five clinics will administer up to 1,800 shots daily, with two-dose spacing and parental consent blanks moving through schools this week.

James J. Nance president of the Automobile Association says the inadequate Interstate network costs American motorists about 2.5 billion dollars yearly. He urged enactment of the administration plan in Senate hearings, while bypassing comments on Sen. Gore’s rival bill. Commerce Secretary Weeks finds Gore’s bill unacceptable to the administration. Thirteenth Polio Case Reported in 1955

The city health department announced the thirteenth polio case of 1955. Linda Guerrero, a two year old girl, is treated for bulbar polio at Santa Rosa hospital. She is the child of Guadalupe and Mrs Guerrero of 3306 North St. Marys. The case ends a two week reporting gap.

Candidates plan first big spring rally in city campaign

Eight league council hopefuls will meet the public at 7 30 p m Thursday at the San Pedro playhouse. League officials say the event is open to all and new members can join on site. A briefing session was set for Wednesday afternoon with 2500 letters mailed urging attendance. Speakers include George Friedrich Roy Baines Mike Passur Elmer Crumrine Ralph Winton J Ed win Kuykendall Joe Olivares and John A Daniels.

Federal Tax Liens Levied Against Carl L Hill for 1951 1953

Federal income tax liens totaling 10660 dollars were placed Wednesday against Carl L Hill Immet, 318 Produce, and a third lien filed by R L Phinney district director of the internal revenue department at the San Antonio Globe 730 N St Marys. Phinney says the withholding tax for 1954 amounts to 021 dollars.
