Lou Criger, long-time battery mate of Cy Young, is a free agent after Hal Chase failed to sign him for 1911. Once a stalwart catcher with strong defense but weaker hitting, Criger’s career spans Cleveland St Louis and Boston, with moves between franchises and a solid bank balance. He may sign with a class A club this season, preferring backstopping to any other work.
