Eleven Bail Out Of B 29 Near Craig Colorado
Eleven airmen bailed from a crippled B 29 25 miles west of Craig Colorado after engine trouble forced an emergency abandonment. The crew parachuted from more than four miles up. one member, Sel Kenneth W Schmidt, suffered an ankle sprain. The craft crashed and burned as 1st Lt Robert B Hickman ordered the escape. Canadian airmen from Salina, Kansas were en route to bring them home.
