The column complains expensive plans for Brackenridge park's Mother’s Garden misstate the concept. It urges a simple, homey space with flower beds, practical tools, water, benches, and informal layout, criticizing Ayres's formal design and suggesting lower costs and community input. It also calls for Kechter Park improvements near the zoo entrance to address unsightly concessions and sanitation for Park visitors.

Farmers Study Draft Ratings of Production
Farmers in Boxer county examine their 1943 production to determine if they reach 35 War units for possible deferment. Under the AAA production program, county, state and national offices receive farmer reports. Seven AAA teams, all area farmers, operate in the county courthouse to assist. About 100 carriers have learned their government production ratings at the courthouse over weeks. Sixteen units will be used as a deferment measure. A county officer explains labor and equipment needs and how manpower inventories fit into the production plans. The government ratings for farm products are detailed by category, including beef, hogs, and other outputs.
