Brutilaty Charges Studied by City Civil Service Panel
A San Antonio coach alleges police brutality at a Feb 29 arrest on Houston Street. Marion Marshall Sr, Rhodes Tunbrigh School teacher, testified at a City Council meeting that an officer struck his eye and pressed a thumb to his windpipe. The Fire and Police Civil Service Commission will study the charges, awaiting the police chief’s action or council recommendation. A three member committee was named to review findings. The commission also voted to not automatically exclude fire department applicants with facial deformities, a matter raised by Fire Chief Bart Melhero.
