Government orders target black market in meat sales
Washington March 6. Every livestock farmer will receive a direct government appeal in the War on Black Markets. Agriculture officials announced new measures requiring slaughterers to obtain licenses by April 1 and stamp the lot number on each carcass. Farmers who do not slaughter meat animals will not need permits but must record sales and purchases. Officials warned that black market operators may continue to lure farmers with marginally higher prices, relying on farmer patriotism to curb the practice.
