Ponape Continues Under Air Attacks By Seventh Fleet

Admiral Nimitz announced Sunday air raids on Ponape with 30 tons of explosives, following earlier February strikes of 5 and 30 tons. The base 425 miles east of Truk and near Eniwetok endured Liberators, Mitchells, Dauntless dive bombers, Warhawks, and Venturas from the U S Pacific Fleet, targeting eastern Carolines and other Marshall atolls.

Allies Kill 4500 Japs In Burma

New Delhi reports Admiral Mountbatten announcing Allied forces have killed or wounded about 4500 Japanese soldiers since February 4 in western Burma while routing an 8000 strong enemy force.
