Bills Seen as Benefit to Juvenile Cases
Smoother court action in Juvenile cases as result of two bills passed by the legislature was forecast Tuesday by James Davis, chief of the county juvenile office. One bill transfers five nile cases from county to district court and creates a new juvenile judge for Bexar county to handle delinquency, dependency, neglect, support and child custody matters. The other bill moves county schools for boys and girls under the juvenile office and adds a chief probation officer with school superintendents appointed by the probation officer. The changes, tied to population bracket shifts, aim to consolidate child cases in one court and allow hearings two days weekly, with ongoing access to the juvenile officer.
