Barkley Predicts Senate Ratification By August 15
Senate majority leader Barkley of Kentucky said ratification of the San Francisco charter should come by August 15 at the latest, perhaps August 1, as no recess will occur until Congress clears chores. He cited completing appropriations to start the new fiscal year and moving the Bretton-Woods charter through banking panel hearings before a July 9 floor vote.
